چکیده

Muscle hardness and its relationship with different muscle lengths/positions are important for understanding underlying physiological status, yet remained unclear. This study aimed to detect the local at lengths identify influence of position on in healthy adults. A total 26 adults participated this study. Shear wave elastography (SWE) was used measure Rectus Femoris (RF), Tibialis Anterior (TA) Gastrocnemius Medialis (GM). Each tested both resting (RST) mid-range lengthened (MRL) positions. novel ultrasound probe placing method introduced, applied, evaluated Moderate excellent intra-/inter-rater reliability (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient, ICC ≥ 0.70) found measurements. The significantly increased from RST MRL all three muscles (p < 0.001). that position. TA GM could also be sensitive enough reflect age-related changes hardness. highlights importance assessed extremities an appropriate consistent when assessing qualities by ultrasonics clinical practice.

Validity of Measurement of Shear Modulus by Ultrasound Shear Wave Elastography in Human Pennate Muscle

Ultrasound shear wave elastography is becoming a valuable tool for measuring mechanical properties of individual muscles. Since ultrasound shear wave elastography measures shear modulus along the principal axis of the probe (i.e., along the transverse axis of the imaging plane), the measured shear modulus most accurately represents the mechanical property of the muscle along the fascicle direct...

Reproducibility of shear wave elastography (SWE) in patients with chronic liver disease

The presence of significant fibrosis is an indicator for liver disease staging and prognosis. The aim of the study was to determine reproducibility of real-time shear wave elastography using a hepatic biopsy as the reference standard to identify patients with chronic liver disease. Forty patients with chronic liver disease and 12 normal subjects received shear wave elastography performed by ski...

Elastic Modulus of Muscle and Tendon with Shear Wave Ultrasound Elastography: Variations with Different Technical Settings

Standardization on Shear wave ultrasound elastography (SWUE) technical settings will not only ensure that the results are accurate, but also detect any differences over time that may be attributed to true physiological changes. The present study evaluated the variations of elastic modulus of muscle and tendon using SWUE when different technical aspects were altered. The results of this study in...

Posture-induced changes in peripheral nerve stiffness measured by ultrasound shear-wave elastography.

INTRODUCTION Peripheral nerves slide and stretch during limb movements. Changes in nerve stiffness associated with such movements have not been examined in detail but may be important in understanding movement-evoked pain in patients with a variety of different musculoskeletal conditions. METHODS Shear-wave elastography was used to examine stiffness in the median and tibial nerves of healthy ...

Diagnostic potential of real-time elastography (RTE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) to differentiate benign and malignant thyroid nodules

BACKGROUND Real-time elastography (RTE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) are noninvasive and easily available imaging techniques that measure the tissue strain, and it has been reported that the sensitivity and the specificity of elastography were better in differentiating between benign and malignant thyroid nodules than conventional technologies. METHODS Relevant articles were searched in ...
